Areas of Focus
Strategic Planning and Governance
We help health innovators embed patient and public engagement directly into decision-making at the organizational and provincial levels. This includes designing advisory groups, developing governance structures, and guiding system-wide strategies that strengthen both healthcare and patient-oriented research.
Project and Program Engagement
We ensure health system initiatives and patient-oriented research projects are designed with meaningful input from patients and the public. We provide the tools, templates, and guidance needed to plan engagement that is inclusive, ethical, and tailored to each project.
Measurement and Evaluation
We support the use of patient-reported measures and assess engagement practices within healthcare and patient-oriented research. This ensures that patient voices are central not only to specific projects—but also to how we define, measure and improve health system performance and research impact.
Capacity Development
We make engagement accessible for researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and community partners. From practical budgeting tools to readiness workbooks, we offer training and supports that build the skills and confidence needed to carry out high-quality patient and public engagement across healthcare and research settings.
Recent
Projects
We support a variety of projects that put patients and the public at the centre. From engagement planning to recruitment, measurement, and resource development, we help teams make participation meaningful and impactful.
Have a project in mind?
We guide health innovators in developing inclusive, practical budgets for projects and funding applications. For example, we supported CIHR and Health Canada–funded research teams to design inclusive budget lines for sustained engagement throughout multi-year projects. We’ve also advised Shared Health programs on sustainable budgeting for ongoing provincial advisory groups, governance committees, and strategic initiatives.
We can support you in designing clear, inviting, and accessible recruitment for patient and public advisors. For example, we led the recruitment, engagement planning and facilitation for a four-year Health Canada–funded Methamphetamine in Manitoba Administrative Data Research Project, ensuring representation from people with lived and living experience across health and social systems.
We ensure meaningful involvement in patient-oriented research and health initiatives. We developed and facilitated a half-day engagement session on palliative care and homelessness in Winnipeg, bringing together community leaders and health-system leaders to co-identify priorities.
We provide tools and supports to make engagement safe, sustainable, and effective. We supported the establishment of a provincial Irritable Bowel Disorder (IBD) Patient Advisory Group, offering facilitation, orientation, and recognition supports that bridge clinical research and system-level care.
We embed patient and public voices in Manitoba’s health-system planning and research. We developed the Valuing All Voices Framework, a trauma-informed intersectional approach to engagement in health research.
We guide research and clinical teams through Engagement Readiness Assessments and participatory planning workshops to co-design inclusive, evidence-informed initiatives,
