What this role does
The Navigator will lead the work of CHI’s Indigenous Advisory Council including preparing agendas, facilitating meetings, and turning those conversations into reports that reach the people who need them. They’ll support researchers across CHI and Ongomiizwin — Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing in navigating ethics boards, Indigenous Data Governance and Sovereignty principles, and community engagement. And they’ll help build the frameworks that make that navigation possible going forward, not just case by case.
Who we’re looking for
You bring at least two years of experience working within Indigenous or community-based research. You know how to listen, not just collect information, but build the kind of trust that makes honest conversation possible. You’re comfortable working across disciplines and across organizations, and you understand why Indigenous protocols and ways of knowing matter in a research context, not as a formality, but as the foundation.
A Master’s degree in a relevant field with two years of related experience is the baseline, though a Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience is equally considered. A PhD or post-doctoral background is an asset.
