Course Develops Current and Future Health Care Leaders

Our Academic Health Sciences Leadership program is approaching its ninth year, and we are looking forward to the next round of participants who will be joining us from September to February. UM Today News recently interviewed past participants who gained value in learning leadership skills, with topics ranging from project management to health system sustainability and social responsibility. As well as access to health leaders such as Dr. Brian Postl, dean of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Lori Lamont, chief operating officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, and Brock Wright, chief executive officer of Shared Health Manitoba.

A Database Providing Parents with Medical Advice

Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK) developed parent and family tools to understand their child’s symptoms and know when to seek care. Our Academic Director, Dr. Terry Klassen, and TREKK's parent advisory group spoke with CTV's Medical Watch on the importance of having readily available, online resources for everyday health concerns.

Establishment of the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research Canadian Data Platform

Announcement: The Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research Canadian Data Platform (SPOR CDP) is a pan-Canadian initiative involving researchers and policy makers from every province and most territories in Canada, led by Dr. Kimberlyn McGrail from University of British Columbia and BC SPOR SUPPORT Unit. The SPOR CDP was initially proposed in 2014 and funded in 2018 ($39 million over 7 years) by CIHR with matching funds from other jurisdictions.
