Causal mediation analysis aims to uncover these pathways using tools from recent advances in causal modeling. This talk will offer an introduction to direct and indirect natural effects; discuss the limitations of common statistical approaches such as SEM; show the conditions in which mediation is identifiable; and walk through an example in R or SAS. Prior knowledge of basic concepts in causal modeling is assumed.
