Event Description

The Public and Patient Engagement Lunchtime Learning (PELL) series introduces participants to the principles of public and patient engagement in health research. Participants will learn how to build meaningful partnerships between researchers and people with lived experience to inform decision-making and improve clinical and practice outcomes.

Maria Baranowski will share how her experience consulting with parent and caregiver research partners informed several aspects of her PhD research project. Maria will highlight her positionality as an insider researcher, as she shares lived experience with her study population.

Objectives

  • Identify factors that positively impacted the process of meeting with parent and caregiver research partners and the future project;
  • Examine barriers to the process of meeting with parent and caregiver research partners and how they could be improved in future projects; and
  • Understand how meeting with parent and caregiver research partners was integral to the success of the project.
