Patient & Public Engagement in Health Research Lunchtime Learning Series

The Public and Patient Engagement in Health Research Lunchtime Learning Series will introduce participants to the principles of public and patient engagement in health research. Participants will learn how to build meaningful partnerships between researchers and people with lived experience that inform decision-making about the health research to improve clinical and practice outcomes.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of a thoracic surgical team's experience of engaging patients and family caregivers in their program of research;
  • Describe the approach, methods, and tools for patient engagement that can be applied to the design of one's own patient engagement strategy; and
  • Identify outcomes important to patients regarding the thoracic surgery experience, including recommendations offered by patients and their family, caregivers.

The CHI Patient and Public Engagement Lunchtime Learning Series is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
