Description

Local researchers are using artificial intelligence to mine complex statistical information and revolutionize the delivery of care.

In this month's Wave Magazine feature article, Dr. Lisa Lix (Director of the Data Science Platform at CHI) plays key role in a five-year strategic plan to help develop the technological capacity needed to leverage advances in big data analytics. In partnership with stakeholders such as the University of Manitoba's Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, and the Manitoba Centre of Health Policy, this strategy aims to produce better health research and patient care for Manitoba.

CHI is driving the training and technological development with initiatives like the Visual and Automated Disease Analytics Program. Students from computer science, psychology, mathematics, health science and statistics, and other disciplines learn how to translate complex health data into insights that can be used to improve health-care systems and support decision-making.
